What is laser trimming

Laser trimming is a process for adjusting components by ablating material using laser pulses. Resistors can be adjusted to an exact resistance value (passive trimming) or circuits can be adjusted to a defined functional value (active trimming), e.g. output voltage or frequency, by changing the geometry in a targeted manner. Typical applications can be found in the production of pressure and temperature sensors, proximity switches, hybrid circuits, current regulators and for the frequency adjustment of transponders or in high-frequency technology.

LS Laser Systems GmbH offers the optimum solution for every application and every process. The systems can be equipped with different laser types of the most common wavelengths and pulse widths to ensure perfect cutting quality. A high-resolution camera with image processing facilitates the setup of new products and guarantees high positioning accuracy in the process. The optional handling system enables 24/7 production, which is controlled reliably via the intelligent software. The systems can be designed either as a stand-alone version or for inline integration.

Our laser trimmers are designed for thick and thin-film circuits on all common substrates. The precise beam deflection makes it possible to position the laser with µm accuracy even on the smallest structures. A high-resolution camera with image processing is integrated as standard. High-precision axes (X-Y-Z-Phi) are used to align the circuit to the exact position.

A selection of different laser types (wavelengths 1064, 532, 355 / pulse widths ns-fs) guarantees the right laser source for every application, even for demanding materials.

The individually combinable measuring system can be used to calibrate resistances, voltages, frequency, inductivity and capacity. The integration of customer measuring systems is possible at any time.
